For months now, I have been suffering from dry, chapped lips that are constantly peeling. That sounds so gross and it is (lol). I would get so frustrated because my lipstick never looked good and it would almost highlight how terrible my lips were especially glossy lipsticks. I could only wear matte liquid lipsticks which are super drying. It’s also frustrating to have to have lip balm and chapstick everywhere I go and if I happened to forget it, I would be so uncomfortable all day. I’m like those memes where I have a “bathroom chapstick”, “car chapstick”, “my mom’s house chapstick” and so on. You get the picture. I set out to fix this issue after trying so many different lip balms and scrubs, and FINALLY so happy to say I found something that worked. I have been doing this routine for about 2.5 weeks and have noticed SUCH a difference in the smoothness of my lips. They are no longer peeling and lipstick actually looks good now! I am SO happy to have found what works for me, so thought I’d share for anyone else with this problem because the struggle was REAL!
Step 1: I love this product from the European Wax Center! You can’t order it online, but you can find it at any EWC location. It’s a face exfoliator, and you can literally feel/see the dead skin come off. I keep it in the shower and wash my face with it every day or every other day. I alternate between this and the Neutrogena Morning Burst Scrub. I like to use any face wash with exfoliators. Be sure to also scrub over your lips. This has made such a difference because normally I’d go around my lips – not even thinking about it. I use this during my morning routine. I use the Tatcha Camellia Oil Facial Cleanser during my nighttime routine, but I don’t think it really matters what facial wash you use. The trick is to always apply the skincare items like cleansers and moisturizers to your lips as well and not go around them. It has made such a difference with my lips.
Step 2: After I brush my teeth – morning & night – I follow up with this lip scrub from MAC. It smells SO good and leaves your lips feeling so soft.
Step 3: This Laneige Sleeping Mask is THE.ABSOLUTE.BEST! I apply this after the lip scrub every morning, but lightly. It’s pretty thick, so before I do my makeup, I only like to put a little on so it’s not too thick under my lipstick. After my nighttime routine, I apply it heavily so that it works its magic overnight.
STEP 4: Before I apply lipstick, I also like to prep my lips with this primer. It helps to smooth out my lips and to prolong the wear of my lipstick. It also just helps the lipstick look better on my lips. I apply it before I do my mascara so that it dries a bit, then apply lipstick. (Was told to do that by a MAC makeup artist)
I hope this helps anybody out there that has dry lips like I did, and would love to hear if it does! I know how frustrating it can be. I should’ve taken “before” pictures of my lips but just now – they were bad.
