Considering my blog was non existent when I got married in August, I never got to do a blog post about it. I just wanted to share some of my favorite shots from my favorite day in life so far. It’s been almost five months, and I wish I could relive it a million times. We got to share it with the most special people in our lives, and I’m so thankful for everyone that showered us with love from the day he popped the question to the day we tied the knot. I’m also grateful for my beautiful best friends and Kalep’s best buds who made all of our festivities leading up to our wedding so memorable and fun. Thanks for being by our sides through it all! Finally, I’m especially thankful for my parents that made this beautiful day possible, and my in-laws for the perfect honeymoon. I could never have dreamed up a more perfect match for me than Kalep, even during the times that I think we’re speaking completely different languages (lol). Marriage so far has been the most fun yet sometimes the hardest journey I’ve been on, but I’m loving every minute of it. In the words of Taylor Swift, I’m so happy I get to hang out with him for my whole life.
I also wanted to take the time to give a shoutout to all of my awesome vendors that worked so hard to make this day perfect for Kalep and I. If you’re getting married in the San Antonio/Austin area in the near future, here’s a few suggestions!
Photography: Kristen Kilpatrick Photography
Kristen is based in Austin, Tx, and has such a beautiful talent. She photographs in both film + digital, which makes for an awesome combination of pictures. She is literally my soul sister. From the minute I met her, I felt like we had been the best of friends for years…especially when she asked me if I could have any singer at my wedding who would it be and we both said in unison: Taylor Swift! Every photo session from our engagements to our wedding day was so much fun with her and she makes you feel so comfortable. Kristen also went above and beyond when my sign in album didn’t arrive in time for the wedding. She whipped one up herself at no cost, so I would have one there. After the wedding, I was bummed I wouldn’t be seeing her as often anymore because she truly felt like a friend. On the bright side, she’ll be moving to Lubbock sometime next year, so she’ll be a lot closer, so any of you in West Texas needing a photographer next year, she’s your girl!
Videographer: MoonLit Weddings
Jake was great to work with, and does an awesome job at such an affordable price. He’s also based in Austin, Tx. Prior to my wedding day, I felt weird about having people follow me around with a camera all day (I guess that’s what it’s like to be on reality tv), but when the day came, I hardly even noticed they were there. He and his assistant made us feel comfortable, and they’re just there to capture all the beautiful moments of your day. Here’s ours if you haven’t seen it yet:
Floral: STEM Floral
The floral part of the wedding was probably the most difficult for me because flowers are so pricey, and I was so indecisive when it came to that. Austin at STEM worked with me through that, and was so patient with me…even when I changed up all the floral last minute a few weeks prior to the wedding. She was really good at capturing my vision, and did a beautiful job on our wedding day.
Next to the floral, picking our wedding venue was our first challenge. We wanted it somewhere in the hill country. There were so many options, but at the same time, we wanted it to be close enough for our guests to make it with ease. After visiting a few one weekend, we still had no idea until I came across The Lodge online. We booked it before we even saw it in person because we immediately fell in love with it especially because it was in Fredericksburg. The owners, Jeff and Amy Mazurek, made the experience even better. They’re SO sweet and helpful, and really worked with us to make our wedding exactly what we wanted it to be. The venue is set on a 200 acre private ranch with a beautiful landscape – complete with elk and other wildlife. It was great because they also have lodging for you and your guests. The cottages are so elegant and rustic at the same time. It made for a great weekend because you get to hang out with family and friends from Friday to Sunday. Overall, we absolutely loved it!
Catering: Catering by Mopsie
We loved the food at our tasting, and we received lots of compliments on the food during our wedding. They have excellent service, and took great care of us and our guests. They also own a BBQ restaurant, Blue Ribbon BBQ, in downtown Austin which was delicious! Their menu is full of a variety of options to pick from.
DJ/Lighting: Alusstra Events
From our first phone call to the days prior to the wedding, Alusstra made sure everything was exactly the way we wanted it. They also do so much for a great price! We received lots of compliments on the variety of music they played, and the DJ was also a great MC.
Wedding Planner: Girl Friday & Company – Adrienne Lopez
We chose Adrienne to be our “Month of” Wedding Planner, so the month prior she would tie up all loose ends, create schedules and coordinate with all our vendors, and be there to coordinate our rehearsal and wedding day. She seriously did so much more than she had to for us. It was great having my mind at ease knowing she was taking care of everything. Her and her assistant were SO
Wedding Shoes: Aminah Abdul Jillil
I am obsessed with her shoe collection especially the bow pumps and bow flats. I had to have them the minute I saw them. They also matched my dress perfectly. Their quality of leather is so good and so worth the price tag. I also really wanted shoes that I could wear after my wedding, even though I find it hard to because I don’t want to wear them out.
Wedding Dress: Ella Blu
Like my bad habit of never trying things on, I also never tried on my wedding dress prior to ordering it. I had seen it in a magazine, yet no local bridal boutique had the sample in to try on because it was part of Maggie Sottero’s newest collection. If I waited for the sample to come in, my dress wouldn’t arrive in time. Ella Blu in El Paso had a similar design, so we went there to try it on. I couldn’t take my mind off the dress in the magazine, so it was hard to pick something else. I just went for it and ordered it, but luckily, I loved it as much as I thought I would when it came in. The girls at Ella Blu are the nicest and make you feel like a princess at your fitting. I was nervous about ordering it without seeing it, but they were so reassuring and helpful in making my decision. Crystal & Sophia made the experience so much fun!
Our wedding officiant was Josh Stowe, who used to be the Pastor at First Baptist Monahans. He baptized me back in 2009, and I’ve always cherished Josh and his family. They’re really special people with the kindest hearts. He’s also quite humorous so I knew he would make our ceremony entertaining for us and our guests.
The ceremony music was provided by my little brother. He’s such a talented musician, so I wanted to add a personal touch and have him play our wedding intro music on his acoustic guitar. He plays at local bars and restaurants in Lubbock, but he said playing at my wedding was the most nervous he’s ever been. I think he knows his sister well (lol 😉 kidding!), but he did so good!
We also had surprise Mariachi band from San Antonio after the ceremony which was such a fun touch.
Make Up: Renee Lathers
She’s based out of San Antonio, Tx, and did such an awesome job especially with 10 people on our wedding day. Renee was so so nice, and really knows her make up! If you follow her on Instagram @rml_beauty, you can see all her beautiful looks and her crazy big collection of coffee mugs!
Stationery: Me, myself, and I
For the last couple of years, I’ve done invitations for my friend’s baby showers, birthday parties, etc. I majored in Advertising, so I’ve always been into graphic design and kind of obsessed with pretty fonts. I’m also a huge DIY person, so I decided to try my first wedding invitation and design my own. Since then, I’ve done a few of my friend’s and working on a few for some upcoming weddings. I truly love doing stationery and hope it can turn into something one day! I also made these extra decor elements pictured below myself.
Finally, the cake, cookies, and goodies were made by my mom who owns Sweet Galleria, with the help of my aunt who also has a bakery business. It just didn’t feel right having someone else make it! 🙂
The multiple trips to Fredericksburg, San Antonio, and Austin were exhausting but well worth it to work with these awesome people who did so much for our special day.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I hope you enjoyed it, and maybe someone out there can find some of the info helpful! If you’re my friend on Facebook, this is a warning in advance that I’ll be flooding your timeline with the rest of my wedding pictures sometime this week.
Hope you’re having a happy Monday!
