Happy (belated) New Year friends! It’s my first post of 2017, and I absolutely love the beginning of a new year. It’s a fresh start and the perfect time to make changes in your life, dream big and for new chances. 2016 was a great year to me – it was a year full of many firsts. It was my first full year of being Mrs. Warden which was incredible even through the days where we may not have been the best of friends. We learned so much more about each other living together + becoming our own little family (with Tyce), managing our own household and just experiencing life together. I love that it’s Kalep I get to do life with. It was my first time to experience Coachella with one of my best friends. It was also the first time that I ever really took a chance on myself. Steeltoes & Stilettos came along about a month before the beginning of 2016. I also started trying to grow my small stationery business doing wedding + other event invitations after doing them for friends and family for a while prior this last year. My love for doing sugar cookies also sparked in 2016 after helping my mom at her bakery, and I absolutely love doing them. For the first time in a long time, I felt like God had placed me exactly where I needed to be. Even though I don’t have exactly one title and I have to explain 3 different “jobs” that I do when people ask, I love getting to do each and every one of them. My blog + my little stationery business mean so much to me, and I’m so glad I decided to take a chance on my dreams. Who knows where any of this will lead, and even though there’s days where I have 0 motivation and days of obstacles that get me down, I know I’ll never regret trying. I’m so thankful for each and everyone of you that supports my little business + shows my blog the slightest bit of love. I do my best to not live through social media and not focus on the likes and shares, but know that I appreciate every single one because it means so much more to me than just a “like” on a picture – it’s support for me and this blog and I couldn’t be more grateful for it. Looking back at 2016, I’m smiling and I’m looking forward to this year! In 2017, let’s strive to be our best selves, dream HUGE and most importantly, BE KIND & spread love.
The last day of 2016 was spent doing a photoshoot with Daisy Dukes in Lubbock, Tx. They carry the cutest clothes and really unique pieces you won’t find at the mall. This was one of the dresses I wore during the shoot, and I was so happy I got to bring it home with me. It’s crazy comfortable – comfortable enough I wore it to the craziness that is the Dillard’s New Year’s Day Sale yesterday. I also got lots of compliments on it while we were there. It’s a perfect piece to bring from winter to spring. My favorite part of this dress though is the bold print. Show Me Your Mumu thrives on fun and pretty prints. Definitely statement pieces!
That’s it for now – Make Day 2 of 365 a great one!
