Now that Mila’s a little older, we decided to change some things up in her nursery to make it more toddler-friendly. She loves to play with her toys and books now. In an effort to keep everything out of the living room, I wanted to make her room a little more of a playroom so she can have her toys out and play in there. I had been dying for her to have a baby kitchen but wasn’t sure she was old enough yet. One of my best friends’ little girl has one and Mila is always playing with it when we go over, so I decided she needed one of her own. My parents wanted to gift it to her as a late Valentine’s Day gift because her original gift ended up not being what we wanted. I have always loved the Pottery Barn toddler kitchens but didn’t love the prices. We found this dupe on Amazon for under $180 and it looks so similar! Honestly, I think I was as excited as Mila for her kitchen to come in. I wanted to decorate it and fix it up for her to enjoy. It had a chevron backsplash originally, so I ordered peel ‘n’ stick subway tile from Amazon to replace that. It was under $30 for 10 sheets and so easy to put on. I did end up using all 10 sheets because I had to double up so the chevron wouldn’t be seen through. Mila’s little kitchen ended up being my dream kitchen! lol Also, this kitchen comes with pots and pans. I had ordered her a set by Melissa & Doug because I didn’t realize it came with some. Her vacuum and small white appliances like the Keurig and toaster are all from Sam’s!
We also decided to take out the rocking chair and put up her teepee in there. We had this teepee from her Kidchella birthday party (linked here if you missed that post), and she had so much fun in it then. I thought it would be the perfect little reading nook for our bedtime stories. She likes to take her babies in there and hang out with them.
Finally, we added in the small storage shelf next to her crib. It used to be in my “cloffice” but I also decided to makeover that room (post coming soon). I decided it could be perfect for toy storage in Mila’s room. I purchased the baskets from Target and they fit in the boxes perfectly. I like to keep some toys and books accessible to her so she can reach and play with them as she pleases. I keep all the other toys in baskets in her closet and bring them out occasionally. I don’t want her to have all her toys out or else, it’d be a complete mess!
Here’s the old post on her original nursery!
Hope you enjoyed this little nursery update! I linked everything in the widget above! I’m making an effort to do more home decor posts because interior design is something I truly enjoy!
