I am so excited to finally share Mila’s nursery with you all! The nursery was one of our guest bedrooms, so we completely emptied it out and moved everything to storage before we started. As soon as we found out we were having a baby girl, my mind went racing with ideas for her nursery. I’m not a huge theme person, so rather than go with a theme, I really focused on a color scheme of blush, greys and golds. I also wanted it to have a modern boho style. This was the first time I really decorated a room from start to finish, and I had so much fun doing it and making it just right for Mila’s arrival. I wish I could decorate nurseries all the time! Sharing more details below – Enjoy!
One of the walls used to have this strange light green color on one of the walls (that we just pretended wasn’t there because we never got around to painting it), so my mother in law painted white over that wall and did a fun stencil pattern with gold spray paint. I had originally wanted to do a patterned wallpaper, but the cost of those things is ridiculous – somewhere around $400-500 just for one wall, so stencils are a great alternative. Her wooden sign was the last piece of decor that finished the room. If you kept up with me throughout my pregnancy, you know that I didn’t have a name for her until literally the night before she was born. We even had onesies made for the hospital with two different options because we could not decide on a name. Once we had her name, I basically wanted to have everything monogrammed and personalized. I knew I wanted a sign with her name for her nursery though, and after searching high and low on Etsy for a piece like this, I found someone to do it locally. Everyone on Etsy had a 4-6 week waiting period, and I was able to get it done in 5 days and for half the price. If you’re looking for custom woodwork, check her out here: TimberCrafts. She does great work and is SO fast!
I knew I wanted a white crib and I loved the modern style of this one! I also wanted to keep the bedding to a minimum to go with the style of the room, and when I came across these pillows from Target, they were the perfect touch to the crib. I take them out anytime I lay her in her crib though – just FYI. My mom informed that faux fur pillows DO NOT belong in a baby crib! lol The rug was a piece that I saw at World Market, and it was one of those pieces that you compare every other thing to, so it just had to find a home in her nursery.
Crib: Wayfair – Comes in so many colors! Love the washed neutral!
Rug: World Market
Faux Fur Pillow: Target
Tassel Pillow: Similar here
Pouf Ottoman: Wayfair
The throw & faux fur rugs are items I picked up at Homegoods!
I seriously had such a hard time finding a good chair for her nursery. I would find one that I loved but it wasn’t the right color or size, ridiculously priced or it would be sold out until a later date. I finally came across this one that I loved and it was the perfect shade of grey. Also, I picked up the marble gold side table for less than $30 at Hobby Lobby!
Chair: Wayfair – it also comes in a pretty ivory color!
Pillow: Magnolia Home
The shelves are an IKEA hack. Such an easy project to do and paid right around $30! I bought two shelves and two sets of brackets. I painted the brackets gold to match the rest of the room and DONE!
Bunny: Pottery Barn Kids
Cactus 1: West Elm
Cactus 2: West Elm
This dresser is one of my favorite parts of the room. I came across this dresser on so many Pinterest nurseries and it is the HEMNES dresser from IKEA and less than $300. The quality is so good and there’s so much storage. Be prepared to spend 2+ hours assembling it though. Kalep and I had fun doing it though! 😉 It comes with plain black knobs and I just swapped them out to these gold and acrylic ones from Hobby Lobby. I need to swap them out again though because although I love the look of these, I’ve already broken three of them.
Lamp: Kate Spade from Homegoods
Mirror: Hobby Lobby
I waited 3 months for these curtains and they’re still out of stock. I ordered from two separate places and my order was cancelled because they were on backorder. They were worth the wait though because they’re the perfect shade of blush and they’re velvet. Now if only I can convince Kalep to let me paint the shutters all white!
Curtains: Half Price Drapes – So many other pretty colors available!
I hope you enjoyed her nursery tour! We sure love spending time in there!
